Welcome to RAMTEK - Rammed Earth Technology Inc.

We are environmental rammed earth builders and designers dedicated to improving the quality of life by developing sustainable rammed earth homes and communities.

We design and build a range of structures from custom housing to  environmentally planned communities, which are composed of residential, commercial, public, and industrial buildings.

Rammed earth is a superior building technology; its many positive qualities have been proven over thousands of years all over the world.  We believe in creating healthy, high quality buildings that last for generations.

We are available to build anywhere.  For those who wonder if the Canadian climate is suitable to rammed earth, the answer is absolutely.  With 50% more R-value than a typical Canadian home and walls that are two feet thick and re-enforced you can put a rammed earth building almost anywhere.

What is Rammed Earth?

Rammed earth is an earth based wall system.   Traditional rammed earth is compacted between forms by hand using various combinations of damp gravel, sand, silt and clay.  Modern stabilized rammed earth is pneumatically compacted with added cement and rebar for stabilization and rigid insulation imbedded to increase thermal resistance.  Rammed earth seals are added to the surface to aid in the curing process of the walls and increase their durability and lower their maintenance.  As well, iron oxides, textured or patterned forms, and unique elements, such as precious stones and geodes, are added to the mix and surface of the walls during construction.  This process creates a unique architectural element to rammed earth which distinguishes it from other types of construction.

Quality rammed earth walls are sandstone like with great benefits and beautiful characteristics.   It is not uncommon for modern rammed earth to last a millennium.
